 WOWI® Instructions

       Congratulations on deciding to take the World of Work Inventory to determine greater direction for your future education and career plans! You can take the WOWI on any desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone with internet access. This is an assessment tool — there are no 'pass' or 'fail' scores!

6 Minute Introduction Video!

  1. We recommend you find a quiet place where you can concentrate and take the WOWI at your own pace.
  2. You will want to set aside enough time to complete at least one section.
  3. To start the WOWI, click on the “Log In” button at the top right of any page on our website www.wowi.com. Log in using the User ID and password you have been given.
  1. Take breaks as needed. Simply log back in to continue. Your responses are saved as you go. You will be guided back to the last question where you left off.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Do not use a calculator, dictionary, Google or other aids. Scratch paper and pen/pencil is all that is required for the numerical section.
  4. Make an educated guess if you don't know the answer. If you select the response 'I don't know', it will be counted as incorrect.
  5. After answering all of the questions, make sure you press the submit button. The WOWI assessment is scored instantly and is immediately available to your counselor or assessment administrator to review with you. 

Estimated time:

Self-selected choices: review the list and choose two occupational areas and subjects that you enjoy most, this takes 5-7 minutes.

Interests: Most people take about 10-15 minutes to complete this section.

Work Styles: For best results give yourself 8-10 minutes without interruptions to complete this section.

Aptitudes: This section consists of 90+ items and may take you about 30 - 40 minutes. It is not timed so you can work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Total time: 48-70 minutes
